Burlesque magenta hair
I forgot to post this oh so long ago! The ‘cape’ is a short skirt I never work which looks way better this way. Just secured with a pin under the blue rose.
I ripped little bits off the eyelashes accidentally so made them symmetrical and stuck them to the side of my eyes with a diamante in between. The diamante I picked up from a $2 shop in sheets, and I stuck the feathers on with a little bit of liquid latex from kryolan.

Summer 90s alt look
It’s handy with vintage if you lived through the looks the first time around.
Also, I’m blonde(ish) for summer (thanks Wildilocks).
I’m wearing eye makeup again. Hooray! Still going subtle for a day at the pub. Liquid liner and side flicks, a bit of brown shadow under the eye, a bit of black and brown shadow in the corner of the eyes, blush and a dark red lippie.
I’m really into crosses right now – love these Perth designed sterling silver earrings, and some leather tied around as a choker. (90s orama.) Finished off with some glow in the dark Kreepsville 666 clips. The suspenders are vintage.

The 1940s influenced look in action
December 21, 2011 No Comments
Ah the 80s.
I’ve been moving away from classic alt or goth looks to a fusion style that incorporates contemporary trends without losing good old alternative fashion drama. Pretty happy with the results.
I’ve been moving away from the multicoloured hair because I miss wearing white. (I get colour run :/) Going lighter with my skin tone is giving me more drama than expected, particularly in this red tone.
After laser surgery and I can’t wear eye makeup for a month. I decided to make my hair lighter in anticipation of this. With naturally black brows and eyelashes, going lighter instantly gives me the bolder brows that are in vogue right now. I used pale pink frosted lipstick to emphasise the look.

Look book: 1920s vintage winter workwear
Excuse the douchey expressions…
Things I love that made this outfit work:
1) Sock glue so I can finally make these stockings stay up
2) A cameo I picked up from a charity shop work in the centre of a high necked top.
3) Simple, tightly fitted crocheted beret gives a 20s look
4) My favourite goes-with-anything jacket purchased from Reddoll on etsy.

Real Perth Alternative Girls: Marijke
Our next real Perth Alternative Girl is Marijke. This is a great shot by Spooky Shaun Ferraloro, styled by and using clothes provided by Red Dusk Designs.
Main elements of her look: well defined brows, neat hair, stockings, gloves, sweet vintage-inspired cardigans and generally a consistently coiffed look. She tends towards classic vintage shades of red, black, peaches, pinks and good old leopardprint.
Clear influences: Gothic and vintage: 18th century, Victorian, 1920s & 1940s.
Body features to play up or down: Marijke is tall and slender, lucky thing, so it’s hard to go wrong. She makes the most of a great pair of pins by often wearing vintage back seamed stockings and heels.
Many thanks to Jacqueline Jane and Perth Street Fashion for images.
