Pretty pvc dresses
It’s rare that I even find a PVC designer I like. I always think of it as that uncomfortable fabric that sits badly and aspires to sexy while only achieving plastic-ey. I should have known that modern alternative designers would find a way to make it work. It reminds me that gothic culture has moved a long way from ‘girls in graveyards’ and incorporated strong vintage and Lolita influences to be much more feminine than wannabe sexy.
I haven’t tried their clothes on so can’t vouch for quality, but I love how this label mixes PVC with other dress fabrics to make the most of the shininess without suffering from the drawbacks of the fabric. (Like its heaviness, stiffness, and ultimately lack of femininity.) Good show, I say.

Modifying a men’s shirt with latex
Craft continues!
He does look a bit long-suffering in that last shot.
He’s also wearing the collar I made a week or two ago. Thanks to Finn for being my dummy (I mean model.
I made a sheet of latex into the right size, chopped the edges and sewed it for a neater effect.

Craftiness: latex choker
By far one of the most fun craft things I’ve been playing with is latex. I bought a tub of colourless latex and some oxide colouring from a hardware store and just been painting on glass (to give a shiny finish) and fabric. It looks awesomely industrial and is so easy to use. This is my first prototype. I dig how rough it looks – and it’s a far cry from what I normally associate with latex! But there is some extremely slick latex jewellery around. It sits really nicely on the skin and if done right can be mistaken for tattoos. (I know Beyond the Trapdoor in Subi has some.)

Latex accessories you can buy online

Collective Chaos: Etsy seller that specialises in latex collars with feathers. Did I mention that I have a thing for neck ruffs?

nyom mittens by HMS latex. Latex accessories go very well with Melissa shoes, I might add. Click for link to site
Thanks reader Jodie for pointing out this shiiiiny etsy latex seller to me. Some gorgeously classy cuts and if photography is any indication, looks like pretty good quality.
Oh yeah, their site is a time sink. Of note are flattering cuts for pear shapes – cowl necks, cuts under the breast to add shape, backless cuts and plunging necklines. Plunging neckline aren’t traditionally generally considered flattering because they can flatten breasts out, but I think I have better ‘centre cleavage’ than ‘top cleavage’ so I think it really depends on individual body quirks.
But all over latex isn’t for every person or every occasiona, and I’m finding I get more use out of my mittens and accessories than anything else. I think I could get some serious wear out of this for instance…
Okay fine, it’s totally impractical. But soooo pretty.
Here are more latex accessories I hustled up.

Cruella DeVille latex outfit
I’ve been drooling over this for a few months. I haven’t bought from this seller before but I really love latex hats, and of course fabulous fur.

Happy Valentine’s with the beauty of Atsuko Kudo and a tip to keep latex shiny
Happy valentine’s! To celebrate here’s some of my love and lust for Atsuko Kudo latex. Yes you can buy it online, and yes it’s expensive.
I recommend Pujr for shining and oiling, by the way. It’s a sex lubricant you can easily buy from most sex shops, and it works wonders on latex, and also rubber shoes like Melissas.

Look book: eaten by monsters (yargh)
Okay it’s a little late, but I never posted up my Halloween photos. Part of the reason behind that was that I didn’t get a good shot of my new black latex miniskirt that I picked up from HighGlossDolls.
It’s basically just a latex mini like the one below, but in black and with a red latex garter worn over it. Hot! I attached basic black back-seamed stockings to the garters, and wore them with my favourite Melissas.

To compensate for the excessive hotness of high heels and latex, I went minimalist and feminine with hair, makeup and accessories. (Odd for me). Alas, I didn’t get a decent shot of my outfit, but the shots I did get seemed to be me about to be eaten by various monsters, which is perhaps a testament to how much latex looks like candy… and gosh darn it, xmas just doesn’t involve enough monsters for my liking.

latex fashion done the demure way. I look like i'm smiling here? It's because he genuinely looked scary and I was a bit nervous. Too much Buffy for me. You can just see the bottom of the red garter under my military jacket (Review brand). The handbag is a basic leather clutch with a metal chain I picked up from a charity shop.

See now I'm just blase towards the monsters. I'm wearing red latex gauntlets that match the red latex garter, and of course red nails.

demure makeup. Kind of working for me. Thanks for screamingam for the great shots - click for his flickr site.
This look surprised me – I was only intending on wearing something demure since I was wearing such revealing clothing.
The makeup: Light mineral foundation (It doesn’t stay well but it’s good for light makeup), a smidge of dark pink blush on the apples of my cheek and the hollows of my cheekbones, and a light highlight on the top of my cheekbones. Eyes are black shadow with a fine brush under my eyes, liquid liner and small flicks on top, and just some highlight (pale shadow) on the top lid. Lipstick is a bright red and matching liner, which probably only works because of my dark skin. If my skin was lighter I’d go for paler lippie and maybe a brown shadow under my eyes as liner.
The clothing: Review military jacket; High Gloss Dolls skirt, garter belt and gauntlets; charity shop bag, charity shop top, charity shop headscarf.
Special thanks to Frank and Johnny monsters!
