It’s an exhibition curated by Perth artist and all-around cool lady Marijke Loosjes, whom you may remember from her look book in this here blog. She’s gotten together twelve artists to work in pairs to create works that influence the other.

It’s pretty, you should totes check it out. Metamorphosis opens Saturday May 12th at 6pm at Free Range Gallery at 399 Wellington Street.

I love how this outfit neatly solves pear figure issues of a small bust and large hips. Yay ruffles for volume! The high waist will also help suck in any unwanted cut in issues around the stomach.

I do absolutely love latex, but the prices usually scare me off. If you’re a crafty like me, check out this starter kit by Bella Rubber. Unfortunately you can’t get the glues shipped but there’s a modified pack for people outside Bella Rubber’s home state of Victoria. They also hold workshops to get you started.

Me? Taking on yet another craft? Ah well, it was bound to happen.

Descent: Old school goth night in Perth.

Somewhat unrelated to fashion, and yet heavily related to alternative culture, I have had a fit of nostalgia and am throwing a pub night dedicated to old school goth music – and old school goths.

Rather than guessing what people want and coming up with all the little details, I’ve just asked. People have helped me figure out what time it starts, what kind of music to play, what to call it, and what the logo and poster should look like. The event is on May 3rd 2012 and you can have input in shaping it at the Facebook HERE.

It’s also sparked off everyone else’s nostalgia and has lead to a document which chronicles the past 20+ years of gothic clubs in Perth. A few people still have posters and fliers from these events, so we’ll be pulling together as many of them as we can find to display at Descent.

It’s a real reminder to me that subcultures work differently. People are passionate and involved enough to keep posters from 20 years ago! That’s not just getting pissed on a weekend night.

I have no idea what I’m going to wear!
